What is MY Games?

Mississauga Youth Games is a not-for-profit organization that offers free sporting opportunities to the youth of Mississauga. MY Games continues to promise programming that will enhance sportsmanship and leadership skill in its grades 6, 7, and 8 participants. MY Games holds an annual Olympic-inspired event each year, where 300 participants are given the opportunity to compete in basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, soccer, track, cricket, flag football, and newly added; baseball!

When are the MY Games?

This year, the MY Games main event is on Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 from 10:00AM-4:30PM. It is being held at TL Kennedy Secondary School located at 3100 Hurontario Street (corner of Hurontario and Dundas St.)

Be creative and release the artist inside you! Take part in four different workshops, including hip-hop, circuit bending, make your mark mural, and making it big theatre workshop. Participate in the open mic talent show on Saturday October 1st, 2011 at TL Kennedy Secondary School, hosted by the Mississauga Arts Council. This event will take place from 2:30PM-7:00PM.

How much does it cost to join?

MY Games is completely FREE for all participants!

Who can take part?

Our programming is dedicated to boys and girls in grades 6, 7, and 8.

I am too old to participate. Are there any other opportunities for me?

Yes! We are constantly looking for energetic volunteers and coaches to help out at any of our programmed events. Pease click here for more information on how you can get involved, or register online at our website to become a MY Games coach or volunteer.

My son/daughter is too young to participate, are there any opportunities for them?

MY Games’ Summer of Sport drop-in programs are offered periodically throughout the summer and are open to children of all ages.

Do I as a parent/guardian, have to be present the whole event?

It is mandatory for parents/guardians to sigh their child into a MY Games event.

For the main competition day on October 2nd, once your child is signed in, it is encouraged for parents/guardians to stay and cheer on the sidelines and in the bleachers! This year, we have introduced a” MY Parents Program”. We have arranged a schedule of activities for you to enjoy! Parents and guardians will be able to participate in exciting activities including salsa dancing, karate and in Zumba!

Will food be provided?

Lunch, snacks, and beverages for both parents/guardians and participants will be provided on our main event. It is recommend to pack an extra bottle of water.

Will I get to play my first choice of a sports bundle?

On competition day Sunday, October 2nd, each athlete will take part in two sports. On the registration form athletes will need to indicate their first, second, and third choices of sports. Although we cannot guarantee an athlete’s place in any one sports bundle, please note that we do consider preferences when assigning an athlete to a team.

What do I need to wear?

On competition day, we will provide each athlete with a t-shirt in their team colour. Remember to wear comfortable running shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather. All athletes will play outside at some point during the day. Please remember to pack extra sweaters or jackets as the weather is very unpredictable and is starting to get chilly.
